I live in the Stratford area very close to the new shopping centre. I have been trawling your pages and cannot find anything about shopmobility scooter/wheelchair hiring etc. Please could you help me as I would like to hire a scooter for the grand opening – if you could help it would much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi there I work in the M&S at westfield stratford city and was told a gym would be opening up, is it possible to send me details of what company it is and whether they are 24 hours…anymore information would be great thank you.
P.S I have looked through the list maybe its my eyes but I cant see a retailer’s name linked to fitness.

    • Host, MSUK September 11, 2011 at 12:33 pm #

Hi Georgio, who told you that Westfield Stratford City would have a gym? You’re not the first person to ask us this question… but as far as we know the shopping centre does not have a gym.

      However;

Tesco are building a “village” to the south of the Olympic site – and the planning application does mention that they’ll build a new gym / fitness centre.
Tesco want their Bromley-By-Bow village to be open in time for the Olympics, 2012. The gym should be within walking distance – on land south of Otis Street and Three Mills Lane, east of the A12 and North of the Railway Line, E3.

So – we think there will be a new gym, in the Tesco village, but it won’t be open until 2012.

If you have any more news about a gym at the mall , please leave a comment here. Thank you.

    • Eric September 9, 2011 at 10:03 am #

Was this ok posting this.? Sorry it turned out a bit spread out.

      • MSUK, Host September 9, 2011 at 10:14 am #

Hi Eric, thank you for posting the list. My fear is that having different lists on the main page, and in the comments will confuse people.

So, if it’s ok with you, when I get a chance, I’ll combine all of the lists onto the one main page – as it will be easier to alter in the future.

Will this be ok? Many thanks for the info, once again.

        • Eric September 9, 2011 at 12:44 pm #

Absolutely as its your website and my post looks messy and its best under your control.

Disney might be one of the 100 stores still not named..?

          • Host, MSUK September 10, 2011 at 1:10 pm #

Hi Eric, thank you for the shop info – I’m adding it to the list now. If you wish, please do add your dining info to the page. Thanks again.

  10. colin manning September 7, 2011 at 7:42 am #

Will there be a Modelzone store opening in Westfield Stratford City? as there doesn’t seem to be hardly any model shops in this area.

    • Host - MSUK September 7, 2011 at 8:08 am #

Hello Mr Manning, we’ve received no reports of a Modelzone opening. The shopping centre is approx 94% fully let – so there is still a (slight) chance that it could appear. If you hear any news, please let us know. Thanks for visiting MSUK.

  12. Farooq September 6, 2011 at 1:06 pm #

Thanks for your reply on londonsla.org in march 2011 it said that ikea and tesco will be opening im not sure if this is correct or not

    • MSUK, Host September 6, 2011 at 2:18 pm #

Hi Farooq, apparently they are building a ‘Tesco town’ in Bromley-by-Bow – featuring a huge store. Links include: mile-end-residents.co.uk/?p=561 . The first part of the development will be completed by 2012: build.co.uk/construction_news.asp?newsid=112115

Re: Ikea. I think your source may be mistaken. The Evening Standard says that Ikea are building houses, not a store. See: thisislondon.co.uk/standard-business/article-23855098-ikea-buys-stratford-site-for-housing-development.do

Ive Officialy given up looking for jobs, over 160 stores and still im unemployed.
They said that people living in the area will most likely get tickets to the olympics and jobs..

  32. Eric August 11, 2011 at 10:48 am #

Folli Folie,a womens fashion accesories and jewellers (the girls are sure gonna love WSC) will open a store there according to http://www.rdtmagazine.co.uk

GAME is also to open a store.
There will be a swanky Art Gallery to peruse thru somewhere likely in the High End retail section, and like Westfield London, there will be a Library catering for the local residents.

    • Host, MSUK August 11, 2011 at 12:28 pm #

Many thanks Eric – I’ll get them added to the list.
      Thank you.

This has been VERY poorly organised. Disgraceful. There is not one successul, clear link or number in regards to applying for a job here. Job centres say go to website, websites say go to shop, shops say go to website. This is ridiculous. Appalled by the lack of help, support and co operation.

  34. Host, MSUK August 8, 2011 at 10:59 am #

    Thanks Eric…
Also: Metal barriers protected Westfield London’s entrances this morning. Police presence less visible.

  35. Eric August 8, 2011 at 9:57 am #

JD Sports might be another addition to WSC.

PS: Forgive me for posting this in wrong thread.
Westfield London thankfully escaped spate of recent London-wide yobbery recently. Was protected by a ring of Riot Police early hours of this morning. Un-nerving sight

Shame theres not been any place for pet stores in ANY shopping centre

    • Eric August 2, 2011 at 12:18 pm #

Correcting my comment: Some shopping centres do have pet stores but largely they seem to be a miss from some of the larger centres.??

      • Eric August 2, 2011 at 3:42 pm #

        4 more opening at WSC…

        Ellis Bingham
        The North Face-Both Outdoor Fashion/Camping

        Linzi Shoes-as the name suggests
        Links of London-Jewellers

I may be wrong about Vans and a possible Superdrug pharmacy.?

        • Host, MSUK August 2, 2011 at 4:47 pm #

Eric, thank you very much for the lists of shops. Thank you… I’ll do some research on them.

Re: Your comment about pet shops. I wonder if it’s because pet shops sell a lot of low value goods… so can’t justify high rents in swanky centres. Instead they prefer out-of-town sites?

  39. Eric July 31, 2011 at 12:55 pm #

I have compiled a list from various links and pics of inside the mall with the boards that have the shop names, including the list here on MSUK and on Westfields official Stratford page… And so far i must have 130 odd.
I went past Westfield Stratford recently, and it looks huge.Bigger than Westfield Shepherds Bush.

PS Maybe perhaps Westfield should incorporate and renovate the Stratford centre nearby, currently containing cheaper ranged shops,ie Wilkinsons,Poundstretchers etc.

    • Host, MSUK July 31, 2011 at 1:31 pm #

Hi Eric, yes Westfield Stratfield is huge, it’s supposed to be the Europe’s largest mall in an urban area (or a similar claim).

Re: Renovation. I think Westfield will say that the fact that they’re building the mall will increase visitors to the area, thus aiding regeneration etc.

If you do spot omissions / errors on our Westfield Stratford pages, please let us know.

      Thanks for visiting MSUK.

    hi,

Does anyone know what exactly is meant by a liesure area? does that mean there will be a fitness centre there?
its about time Stratford had a proper fitness centre instead of the community sports centres.

  47. JD July 28, 2011 at 6:49 am #

Really and truely be yourself when your filling the application. Dont try lie to make yourself seem like the perfect contendant!
Also they give you a “Questionnaire” to apparently “Get to know you better”. If you get a questionnaire because they want to “Get to know you better” believe me its another test. At first when i was filling out the questionnaire I was failing because i fell for their “trap” should I say. There had main themes in the questionnaire. Mainly about being a good decision maker and you have you come up with good concepts etc … First I was indeed ticking some of them, then I realised thos questions was reappearing in differant form, so I knew it was another “test”. So dont fool for them.
Further more times that will work with you. Thats the main step of who they want to choose. Since im going to college I chose 1-6 on a week day and 9-6 on a weekend.
Hope these 3 little tips helped you. Need more just ask

    • Mod-MSUK July 28, 2011 at 7:26 am #

Thanks JD, that’s really useful. Please keep in touch. Good luck with the job hunt!

  48. JD July 28, 2011 at 6:38 am #

I havent had a interview yet! However hopefully I do get an interview because that will give me a good chance of getting the job. if I do get an interview i’ll post on here how it went and what its like.
However tips ive learnt loads of tips just for applying for Boots.

  49. JD July 27, 2011 at 7:19 pm #

I applied ffor a job at Boots, and i was happy i made it on to the second phase. It was really wierd because they said I as I unsuccessful, then 2 hours later I got another email basically saying I made it pass the first phase.

By the way im 16, if anyone was wondering!

    • Host, MSUK July 28, 2011 at 3:22 am #
