Westfield Stratford City shopping centre in east London is huge, and opened in September 2011.
It’s estimated that the mall’s 300 stores, restaurants and attractions will employ up to 8,500 people, and Westfield say that at least 2,000 of these jobs will be filled by the local unemployed. Westfield also state that the centre will provide 18,000 permanent jobs when it is fully up and running.
For example, the John Lewis 240,000 sq ft department store will provide around 950 jobs. John Lewis have agreed that 250 jobs will go to long-term unemployed local residents and the remaining 700 jobs will be given to local residents where possible.
Other retail employers at Westfield Stratford are: Boots, Forever 21, Next, Topshop and Waitrose.
How to get a job at Westfield Stratford City shopping centre?
1) If you’ve got the appropriate qualifications and experience, then applying is a good start! Take a look at our list of shops and stores at Westfield Stratford and begin to contact the stores’ recruitment departments when you see that vacancies are available.
Westfield says that most of the retailers began recruiting in earnest in Summer 2011.
Many of the larger stores have now finished their first major recruitment drives for the time being. For example, John Lewis started recruiting in March 2011. Find out more at their website. However, smaller shops may still be recruiting.
It’s also important to note that Westfield Stratford City mall only recruits for people to work on running the mall – they usually do not organise recruitment for the shops inside the shopping centre. If you want to work directly for Westfield, then see their website.
If you want a job at a shop inside Westfield Stratford, then you have to contact the retailers directly. Be warned: you have competition. It’s been reported that John Lewis have had 12,000 applications for the 800 roles on offer, Waitrose received 1,400 applications for 150 jobs at Westfield Stratford City.
2) Register your interest in Westfield Stratford City at your local JobCentre Plus office. Their website allows you to search for retailing jobs in Stratford London. See the Jobseekers.direct.gov.uk website.

3) Living locally would help too – Westfield are committed to helping the local area around their Stratford shopping centre.
Newham, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Hackney residents may benefit from Westfield Stratford’s agreement to employ 2,000 of the local unemployed. Find out where to apply at the Westfield website.
4) Get the right training
Appropriate training will enhance your chances of getting a job at Westfield Stratford. When the site opens it will contain a Retail Academy. It will provide training for those seeking a career in retail. Seetec will manage the Academy.
5) Be persistent! And use the power of the web…

I think its absolute joke all this messing around phoning shops what happened to going in store and giving in CV’s no wonder why there are so many unemplyed people when you make it so f**king difficult to apply for work.

Hi, i wana apply for sales assistant in shops like forever 21, h&m, or zara or any fashion shops ladieswear, but its difficult, i put lot of cv in westfield n nothing and apply only i dunno its same no answer, i mean i have 3 years experience in retail, i was sale assistant, n manager n now supervisor, but i just wana change for a new shop.
Its hard for me to find, its maybe because im french, think is more easy for you british people with a perfect english.
I dunno what to do, or should i modify my cv and take off from france, recruiters might not like french cos we take time to understand.

Sorry Iam Not agree, I went directly to all the fashion shops and they all said, sorry you have to apply online, we don’t take any cv in the store.
